It wasn't a scientific survey.  But the results were dramatic.  The Billings Gazette selected a few Montanans ranging from authors to fly fishermen to geologists to pick the most dramatic natural sites in this most  dramatic state. Here's what they came up with:

  1. Beartooth Mountains
  2. Missouri River Breaks
  3. Glacier National Park

  1. Makoshika State Park
  2. Yellowstone River
  3. Rocky Mountain Front
  4. Medicine Rocks State Park
  5. Pryor Mountains
  6. Flathead Lake
  7. Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park
