Mackenzie Phillips’ other stepmom is none too happy with her claim of an incestuous relationship with dad. Michelle Phillips, John’s ex-wife and bandmate, says Mackenzie told her about the affair in 1997—"then she called me back and said, ‘You know I’m joking.’ I said it wasn’t funny. Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness,” Michelle tells the Hollywood Reporter. “She’s had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years.”

“John was a bad parent, and a drug addict. But [expletive] his daughter?” Michelle continues. “If she thinks it’s true, why isn’t she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? I have every reason to believe it’s untrue.” She adds that her own daughter, Chynna, is releasing an album this week and “the whole thing is timed. Mackenzie is jealous of her siblings, who have accomplished a lot and did not become drug addicts.” She also criticizes Oprah's "unconscionable" decision to allow Mackenzie on her show.
