It looks like Rush Limbaugh's hope of becoming an NFL owner is kaput. Dave Checketts—the man putting together a team of investors to buy the St. Louis Rams—is dropping Limbaugh, three league sources tell ESPN. Checketts, who already owns the St. Louis Blues, has concluded that the bid doesn't stand a chance because of the controversy surrounding Limbaugh.
On his radio program today, Limbaugh gave no sign of surrender. "I'm not even thinking of exiting," he said. "I am not a caver. None of us are. We have been betrayed by too many who have caved. Pioneers take the arrows. We are pioneers. It's a sad thing but our country over 200 years old now needs pioneers all over again, but we do." (More Rush Limbaugh stories.)
