Aaron Siebers was willing to go to some pretty radical lengths to avoid his shift at Blockbuster. On Monday the 29-year-old stabbed himself in the leg before going into work, claiming he’d been attacked by three men. He got out of work, but things swiftly got out of hand when police started a five-agency hunt for his imaginary attackers.
Eventually they found security camera footage that showed an uninjured Siebers walking past the Target he said he was stabbed in front of. When they confronted Siebers, he admitted to the fib, and was promptly escorted to jail, charged with false reporting and obstructing police. The moral of the story? “If you are going to concoct a story about being stabbed, don't do it near a Target store,” advises a police spokesman. (More Blockbuster stories.)
