Lovers Dish on Sex With Berlusconi, Mussolini

Benito Mussolini and Silvio Berlusconi: Both charismatic leaders of Italy, both wildly popular, both…voracious sexual omnivores. The Independent takes a look at two recent publications—a diary by Mussolini’s mistress, and a memoir by a prostitute who supposedly spent two nights with Berlusconi. A sampling of the salacious details:

• The morning after: Berlusconi offered up coffee or tea and gave a gem-encrusted tortoise as a parting gift; Mussolini’s flings ended without “coffee, liqueur, or even a piece of cake,” writes Clara Petacci in her diary.

• Quantity: “Having been an escort, I thought I'd seen a fair few things, but I'd never seen 20 women for one man,” writes Patrizia D'Addario in Gradisca, Presidente. Similarly, Mussolini told Petacci, “there was a period in which I had 14 women and I'd take three or four every evening, one after the other.”
• Quality: Even at 74, Berlusconi has a flair for endurance: “He goes down on my intimate parts and stays there for a long time, such that I thought that he might be sleeping,” writes D’Addario. “But no, of course not. He starts up again with more energy than before.”
