Four Cops Gunned Down in Wash. Café

A gunman entered a coffee shop in Washington state this morning and opened fire, killing four police officers, reports the Tacoma News Tribune. The three men and one woman, who were wearing bulletproof vests as they prepared to start their shifts, appear to have been targeted and not the victims of robbery. "It looks like a flat-out ambush," said a police spokesman. "Someone came in and opened fire." (More Washington state stories.)
