Private sector sheds 169,000 positions in November

Stocks were mixed today after UBS analysts issued bearish comments on leading financial firms and ADP announced that private-sector employment fell by 169,000 jobs in November, higher than forecast, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow fell 19 points to close at 10,453.
  • The Nasdaq gained 9 points, closing at 2,185.
  • The S&P 500 closed flat at 1,109.
