Erin Andrews is on a mission to make hotels safer for guests, after a stalker filmed her nude through a modified peephole. The ESPN reporter is expected to announce the new initiative after her accused stalker, Michael David Barrett, pleads guilty in federal court today. She plans to sue the hotels and other parties involved, while pushing for laws and hotel changes to prevent similar incidents, reports USA Today.
Andrews’ proposals include placing cameras in every hotel hallway, better training employees to keep guests’ information secret, getting guests’ consent before assigning adjacent rooms, and improving peepholes. She also considers the current “peeping tom” laws to be “wholly inadequate,” her lawyer says. The 100-year-old laws were invented before culprits could “take a few seconds of voyeurism, send it all over the world, and humiliate someone for the rest of their life.” (More Erin Andrews stories.)
