Red Sox starter Jon Lester gave up only one run in six innings, but a late Blue Jays rally gave the win to A.J. Burnett, who was one batter away from a complete game. The loss, along with a blown save, was handed to Eric Gagne, who walked in the tying run and gave up the go-ahead double in the 8th, reports the Toronto Star.

With a 4-2 lead coming into in the 9th, Burnett got two outs before Julio Lugo connected for a solo home run. Scott Downs quickly stuck out Jacoby Ellsbury looking for the save. With the loss, its third straight, Boston drops to only 2½ games ahead of the Yankees in the American League East division race. (More MLB stories.)
