The pilot of an Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed off the coast of Lebanon flew in the opposite direction from that requested by the Beirut control tower, the AP reports. The flight controller "asked him to correct his path, but he did a very fast and strange turn before disappearing completely from the radar," the Lebanese transportation minister said. At this stage it is not clear why the pilot took a different route. No survivors have been found from the crash, which occurred five minutes after takeoff from the Beirut airport. The flight recorders have yet to be located. (More Ethiopia stories.)
