Is CBS using Super Bowl advertising to pursue a political agenda? The network is facing controversy after turning down an ad for gay dating site ManCrunch.com but approving an anti-abortion spot featuring University of Florida star quarterback Tim Tebow. CBS rejected ManCrunch's ad, which features two men making out while watching the game, as "not within the Network's Broadcast Standards for Super Bowl Sunday."
“If it were a heterosexual couple or even two women, it probably would have gotten approved,” said a ManCrunch rep. Some have accused the dating site of wanting free publicity, which CBS' rejection is providing in spades. The site may have submitted the ad expecting it to get rejected, the Wrap reports—it's unclear whether ManCrunch would be able to foot the $2.5 million bill for airing a 30-second Super Bowl spot.
