HBO will launch a video-streaming service tomorrow in an attempt to keep customers who are increasingly choosing services like Netflix over premium cable. HBO Go will be available only to HBO and Cinemax subscribers, at no charge. "Expect to see more and more of these types of services from the cable guys," writes Greg Sandoval at CNET.
Like HBO's TV service, HBO Go will offer online viewers earlier access to films earlier than Netflix can. This provides HBO with a key advantage, but it may not be enough. "If consumers continue to look for ways to cut their entertainment costs and are less willing to pay a premium for early access to films, look for Netflix to win the streaming wars," writes Sandoval.
