Crime | Robert F. Kennedy LAPD Offers Kennedys Apology Over RFK Display Bloody clothes offended some family By Kevin Spak Posted Mar 3, 2010 7:06 AM CST Copied 16th March 1968: Senator Robert F Kennedy announces his candidacy for president at a press conference in Washington, DC, March 16, 1968. (Getty Images) The LAPD has apologized to Robert F. Kennedy’s family for showing off the bloody clothing the late senator was wearing when he was shot. Members of the family had complained that they were offended by the exhibit, which was part of a much-publicized California Homicide Investigators Assn. Conference in Las Vegas. The conference promised a “behind the scenes” look at evidence from famous murder cases. “The last thing we want to do is traumatize a victim's family and I am very sensitive to that,” the chief of police tells the LA Times. “But at the same time, we want to preserve the history of the city of Los Angeles and improve the quality and understanding about our homicide investigations.” Still on display are items related to the Black Dahlia murder, the OJ Simpson case, and more.
