Jesse James may be persona non grata now, but it’s only a matter of time before no one will care what he did to Sandra Bullock. As evidence, PopEater offers five celebs who were only temporarily in the doghouse:

Tiger Woods: Face it, we’re already starting to forgive him—he’s certainly getting off easier than James, perhaps because his wife wasn’t quite as beloved.
Hugh Grant: He cheated on Elizabeth Hurley with a prostitute in the front seat of his BMW; cue public outrage. Fast forward 15 years, and he’s once again a lusted-after romantic lead.

Paul Reubens: After being arrested for indecent exposure in an adult movie theater, CBS stopped airing reruns of Pee-wee’s Playhouse. Nineteen years—and a series of popular film and TV cameos—later, Pee-wee is back in a popular live show.
