New York ties NFL record, sacking McNabb 12 times in 16-3 win

A week after Donovan McNabb pulled the Philadelphia Eagles to dizzying heights with 56 points against the Lions, he found himself dragged back the the ground—repeatedly—by the Giants' defense. New York put up a team-record 12 sacks, six by Osi Umenyiora, and held the Eagles to a single field goal, reports the New York Times.

While the Giants barreled through the injury-weakened Eagles' offensive line, New York's own offense stuttered. Lawrence Tynes missed a 34-yard field goal attempt and later sent a potential extra point caroming off the upright, and Eli Manning was 14 for 26 with a single touchdown pass. McNabb completed 15 of 31 for 136 yards, but lost 62 of those to the sacks. (More NFL stories.)
