Hey, Arizona, Jon Stewart has news for you: Tom Tancredo thinks your immigration bill goes too far…and that means you have a problem. This is Tom Tancredo, after all—“the guy who called Miami a third world country and said the Minutemen border patrol aren’t vigilantes, they’re heroes. The man Mexican parents tell their kids about to get them to eat their vegetables,” Stewart railed on last night’s Daily Show.
And this isn’t the only crazy legislation Arizona has passed recently, Stewart pointed out, noting a requirement for candidates to show a birth certificate in order to get on the presidential ballot, and the legalization of carrying concealed weapons without a permit—both of which were in the same week as the immigration bill. Stewart’s conclusion? “It turns out Arizona is the meth lab of democracy.”
