Beau Biden Has Mild Stroke

Beau Biden—the vice president's son and the attorney general of Delaware—suffered what appears to have been a mild stroke today. The 41-year-old is now "fully alert" and has full motor and speech skills, said a White House statement. He's expected to make a complete recovery. Parents Joe and Jill were with their son, who was being transferred to a Philadelphia hospital.

Beau Biden became the focus of national attention earlier this year when he turned down a chance to run for his father's Senate seat, notes NPR. He also recently served a year in Iraq as a military attorney with the National Guard. His dad had two surgeries in 1988 for brain aneurysms. ABC has more background on strokes among the young.
