Ladies, Please: Stop Wearing Capris

Capri pants have “befouled the landscape for way too long,” and it’s time for you to stop laboring under the illusion that they look attractive, says Ellen Warren. “They make your legs look shorter—and stumpy. Who wants that?” she writes in the Chicago Tribune. In case you’re still not convinced, allow her to debunk three common justifications given for wearing capris:

  • They cover more than shorts: Yes, but they also “hit your legs in the wrong place, making them look fatter and shorter—and your rear look bigger, too.” Try full-length lightweight linen or cotton pants instead.
  • They’re cooler than pants: “What, your ankles are hottest part of your body? You'll be just as cool in slacks or cropped pants that hit just at the ankle bone. Why call attention to hefty calves and thick ankles aka ‘cankles’?”
