With the Daily Caller basically making a business out of leaking comments from emails from the JournoList—a supposedly private email list for left-leaning journalists. So list member Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight.com decided to go through his own log of 150 or so posts, looking for inflammatory, damning and extremist trash talk. And he discovered some shocking stuff too, like, um… Well, he used “we” when talking about Democratic strategy. Does that count?
“Most of the posts were banal,” Silver says, focused on stuff like tracking down sources, or writing advice, or off-topic banter. Almost every opinion he expressed there, he’d also expressed on the blog. “Probably the most provocative thing I said, ironically, is that I thought Daily Caller had a questionable business model because it was poorly differentiated.” He says his experience was pretty typical—which is probably why the Caller’s revelations “seem to be getting more and more trivial.” (More JournoList stories.)
