Guns Were OJ's Idea, Says Crony

Bringing guns to to a confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers was OJ Simpson's idea, says a codefendant in the armed-robbery case who has agreed to testify against his former pal. "OJ said, 'Hey, just bring some firearms,' " Walter Alexander told police in a taped statement acquired by the AP. The weapons would just be for show, Alexander added, "so that these people know that, you know, we're here for business." 

Things got fouled up when fellow crony Michael McClinton pulled his weapon and began to threaten people, Alexander said in his statement. "Juice had told him just to carry the gun, not to, you know, take it out," he added. "If it's true, it hurts OJ tremendously," says the lawyer for another co-defendant. OJ's lawyers still maintain that no guns were brought to the meeting. (More OJ Simpson stories.)
