Stanley McChrystal has landed on his feet, with a new teaching position at Yale. He’ll be heading up a course on leadership at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, alongside such notable names as former US ambassador John Negroponte and former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo, Politico reports. Apparently people had actually been lining up to hire the foul-mouthed ex-General; he reportedly had opportunities at large corporations, non-governmental organizations, and even some wounded warrior groups.

The Jackson Institute is a brand new wing of Yale devoted to global affairs. In going there, McChrystal bucks the trend of ex-Generals heading to the defense industry. Despite his controversial exit, McChrystal is well-regarded in the Pentagon. He got a lavish retirement send-off at Fort McNair, in which Robert Gates toasted him, saying, “No single American has inflicted more fear, more loss of freedom, and more loss of life,” on America’s enemies.
