A Russian tycoon who believes his country's devastating wildfires are a message from an angry God has ordered his employees to stop displeasing the deity. Vasily Boyko-The Great—who legally changed his last name from Boyko—says all 6,500 workers at his agricultural holdings need to attend refresher courses on the teachings of the Russian Orthodox church, the Telegraph reports.
Boyko-The Great has banned employees from having abortions and says any workers "living in sin" need to get married before October or they will lose their jobs. He says he found God himself while imprisoned on fraud charges. Boyko-The Great appears unfazed by warnings that he is breaking Russian labor laws. "This is a private company and people working here must follow the rules," the tycoon says. (More Russia stories.)
