President Obama, following in the footsteps of Bill Clinton and Ulysses Grant, has headed to Martha's Vineyard for a vacation. The president is taking 10 days to "recharge his batteries" and spend some quality time with his family, a spokesman says, adding that the president will still be receiving daily briefings from security advisers while he's off the Massachusetts coast.
The first family is expected to stay at the same swanky Blue Heron Farm where they spent last summer's vacation. Obama's had lousy luck with vacations thus far in his presidency, the New York Daily News notes, with last summer's trip interrupted by Ted Kennedy's death and the "underwear bomber" striking during his Christmas vacation. Some critics deride the choice of Martha's Vineyard as elitist, while others ask, "Who cares?"
