"The aim is to disable and maim your opponent,” the internist leading the charge told his colleagues at the Canadan Medical Association's annual meeting. “We should not tolerate this so-called sport in a civilized society.” He proved persuasive, and the CMA will now lobby for the ban. MMA has emerged from the fringe to become a serious money-maker worldwide, so don't expect to see it go away any time soon, writes Erik Malinowski at Wired.
