Scandal Kills Copperfield Shows

Illusionist David Copperfield has canceled shows across Southeast Asia amid reports that the FBI is investigating claims he "forced himself" on an unidentified woman, the AP reports. He called off dates in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Jakarta, where the promoter said: "With this cancellation, we have lost more than $1 million in advertising and other preparations."

The FBI raided Copperfield's Las Vegas warehouse last week and reportedly seized $2 million in cash—a claim it denied yesterday. Copperfield's lawyer denied the probe forced the cancellations and refuted the allegations, which sources say involve an incident with a Seattle woman in the Bahamas, saying, "We know these allegations are false because David Copperfield has never forced himself on anyone."
