McConnell: Um, I'm Keeping My SOTU Seat

Congress can go ahead and sing "Kumbaya" at Tuesday's State of the Union address for all Mitch McConnell cares: The Senate minority leader tells Fox News Sunday that he's keeping his seat, reports the AP, though legislators should feel free to do whatever they want to. McConnell also vowed a vote on health reform, notes Politico, calling it the "single worst piece of legislation passed in my time in the Senate." As for Obama's move toward the center, McConnell calls it his "trust-but-verify moment." Elsewhere on the Sunday dial, as per Politico:

• Speaking of SOTU, John McCain is sitting with his new best friend Tom Udall, but he thinks legislators should shut up: "Might be nice, maybe we cut back a little bit on all the jumping up and down, which I think frankly distracts from any president's speech."
• Hey, birthers: Eric Cantor declined David Gregory's invite to call you "crazy," but he firmly thinks President Obama was born in the USA, and says, "I don't think it is an issue that needs to be on the policy-making table."
• Colin Powell, who supported Obama in 2008, has no fave for 2012: "I am not committed to any candidate until I see all the candidates and finally see who the two candidates are who are going for this position."
