Easy winner for lawsuit of the day: A state appellate panel in New Jersey has ruled that Hindu diners can sue a restaurant that mistakenly served them meat for the price of a trip to India, the Star-Ledger reports. The 16 vegetarians say they must purify their souls and can only do so in a ritual in the Ganges River. A judge dismissed their case last year, but they won their appeal and can now continue with it.

The Edison restaurant has admitted that it mixed up an order and filled their supposedly vegetarian samosas with meat. You might think the president of the local Indo-American Cultural Society would be sympathetic to the diners, but not so much. "This is a hypocrisy of religion and a hypocrisy of the law," he tells the Star-Ledger. "They can go to a temple here and ask God for forgiveness. God is not going to punish you for doing something unknowingly." (More vegetarianism stories.)
