It's sort of a good news-bad news situation for one Louisiana family. On one hand, they finally know what happened to Joseph Schexnider, who vanished in 1984—on the other, he died inside a local bank chimney 27 years ago. Construction workers renovating a historic bank discovered skeletal remains in the chimney in May, and forensics determined they belonged to the man, who disappeared when he was 22, reports CNN.
Schexnider was reported missing after he failed to appear at a court hearing for possession of a stolen vehicle. The cause of death was likely dehydration and starvation. He was found wedged in the chimney with gloves and a cigarette lighter, but nothing suggesting for sure (like a bag) that he planned a robbery. (More strange stuff stories.)
