Michele Bachmann is taking a break from the stump to vote against the debt deal. “Someone has to say ‘no.’ I will,” she said in a statement issued last night. “The 'deal' ... spends too much and doesn't cut enough,” she said. “Mr. President, I'm not sure what voice you're listening to, but I can assure you that the voice of the American people wasn't the voice that compelled Washington to act.”
“It was you that got us into this mess, and it was you who wanted a $2.4 trillion blank check to get you through the election,” she continued. Bachmann will skip two stops scheduled for today in Iowa in order to fly back to DC, though she may call in to them, CNN reports. (More debt ceiling stories.)
