Cenk Uygur heaves a big sigh on behalf of progressives over President Obama's decision to postpone his jobs speech at the behest of Republicans. Obama comes off looking weak and defeated yet again, writes Uygur in Salon. He once held out hope that this pattern was part of a some grand "rope-a-dope" strategy on Obama's part against Republicans. No more: "You see, if you're playing rope-a-dope, at some point you have to actually swing," he writes. "When your opponent has worn himself out knocking you around the ring—you counter-attack." It's clear Obama has no plans to do that.

The worst of it is that Obama "doesn't realize he's getting pummeled," writes Uygur. "He thinks this is all still a genius strategy to capture centrists by compromising on every single little thing." But nobody wants to follow a weak leader, especially those crucial independents. "This White House is in a bubble. They think they're winning when the roof is about to cave in."
