Sheriff to Women: Pack a Pistol to Shoot Rapists

Ladies, if you want to stop rapists, start packing heat. That's the advice from a South Carolina sheriff who reassures women that "you ain't got to be accurate; you just have to get close." Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright was moved to encourage local gals to get a permit and "carry a concealed weapon" after a woman walking her dog was choked and nearly raped by a repeat sex offender, whom Wright called an "animal." Our "form of justice is not making it. Carry a concealed weapon. That'll fix it," Wright urged at a press conference after the would-be rapist was captured.

The man would have been stopped earlier had he walked up to someone with a gun, Wright explained. The sheriff held aloft a modern-day holster, a fanny pack, which can be used to "conceal a small pistol," and even recommended a gun brand, reports WYFF4-TV. Wright knows he'll be in a heap of trouble with "liberals," but added: "I'm tired of looking at victims saying, 'There's life after this.' I'm tired of saying, 'We're sorry, we can't keep them in jail.'" Wright said he's all for gun control, adding: "When you can get your barrel on the target quick, that's gun control."
