Looking for a secluded vacation spot? For $139,000 a year, you can rent the bunker complex used by Hitler during World War II, reports the Telegraph. Known as the Wolf's Lair, the 32-acre site was built in a Polish forest and became the central headquarters of the Nazi dictator from 1941 to 1944. Drawback: Germany forces destroyed much of it as they fled.
The Wolf's Lair was big enough to accommodate 2,000 Nazi staff and personnel. It was also the setting for a failed assassination attempt on Hitler in July 1944, popularized in the Tom Cruise movie Valkyrie. The Polish Forestry Service acquired the site after the war, and it now draws 180,000 tourists each year. Forest officials hope an investor will make it even more accessible to tourists, notes the Daily Mail. (More Adolf Hitler stories.)
