Adam Sandler fans can take heart knowing that audiences like his new That's My Boy flick with Andy Samberg, giving it a 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. They probably want to stop reading now, though, because critics hate it (20%). A sampling:

  • Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post: "Much of the comedy derives from sex, nudity, bodily fluids, and four-letter words—a focus so single-minded that the script sometimes seems to have been written by a 13-year-old."
  • Kimberly Gadette, Doddle: "It’s getting so bad, you have to wonder if Adam Sandler doesn’t sit in his gazillion dollar mansion, flipping through scripts, looking for the worst possible piece of crap he can find."

  • Marshall Fine, Hollwood & Fine: It "isn’t the worst Sandler comedy ever. But that’s like saying, 'This isn’t the worst case of food poisoning I’ve ever had.'"
  • Adam Graham, Detroit News: "Sandler's Berger is the most loutish, annoying character he's come up with since Little Nicky. Nicky came from hell; viewers of That's My Boy will feel like they're in it."
