A Portuguese male model admits to killing his lover in a fit of rage—but says he wore the man's severed testicles as a talisman and became a healer, the Daily News reports. Renato Seabra, 21, "willingly told police" about the crime because "he thought what he had done was right," his lawyer, Rubin Sinins, said at the opening of Seabra's murder trial in New York yesterday. Seabra's victim: Varlos Castro, a 65-year-old gay activist and society journalist.

Seabra put one testicle "on each wrist," Sinins said. "He wandered the streets of Manhattan, touching people, because he had the power to cure people from AIDS." Not surprisingly, Seabra has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. But prosecutors portray him as a gold digger who was infuriated when Castro wanted to send him back home from New York. Seabra "knew he was beating, stomping, and mutilating Carlos Castro," said an assistant DA. "And he knew it was wrong." (More murder trial stories.)
