Edward Snowden, having apparently seen a plethora of headlines like this one, set the record straight today in an interview with the South China Morning Post. "I'm neither traitor nor hero," the NSA leaker said. "I'm an American." In his first interview since initially revealing himself as the culprit in the NSA leak, Snowden discussed his next moves, which apparently involve throwing himself at Hong Kong's mercy.

"People who think I made a mistake in picking HK as a location misunderstand my intentions," he said. "I am not here to hide from justice; I am here to reveal criminality. My intention is to ask the courts and the people of Hong Kong to decide my fate. I have been given no reason to doubt your system." The Post says it will post more from the interview soon, and promises that it will contain, among other things, "more explosive details on US surveillance targets." (More Edward Snowden stories.)
