The first gay weddings in California since the Supreme Court dealt a death blow to Prop 8 are in the books. First up yesterday were two of the plaintiffs in the case, Kris Perry and Sandy Stier, who wed in San Francisco, reports the Chronicle. "It has taken us nine years to get here," said Perry. In LA, meanwhile, the other two plantiffs—Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo—also got hitched. They might have gotten it done before Perry and Stier if not for one classic LA problem: snarled freeway traffic that delayed the trip to city hall, reports the LA Times. A flood of weddings is expected through the weekend after the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals lifted the stay on gay weddings yesterday, about three weeks earlier than expected.
