Goodbye, Donald Trump, fake presidential candidate. Hello Donald Trump, fake gubernatorial candidate! Some New York Republicans want the Donald to take on Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2014, in what they admit is a desperate ploy, the New York Post reports. "There is only one prospective candidate who could run on the GOP line and win," declares a three-page memo championing the idea from Rochester-area lawmaker Bill Nojay. "People who could never bring themselves to vote for a Republican would vote for Trump as Trump."
But it seems these lawmakers didn't actually ask Trump. The mogul told the Post he was "very flattered' but that it was "not something that I've ever even thought about." Later, he told Fox and Friends that it "would be very interesting," but that "it's not something that is of great interest to me." He did, however, launch a broadside at Cuomo, saying that he was driving people from the state with taxes, and "has the dumbest attorney general in the United States." (Coincidentally, that attorney general is suing him.) Of course, the Donald has things on his mind other than politics; his daughter Ivanka yesterday gave birth to a second baby, E! reports. Tweeted the Donald: "Thanks to all for the wonderful congratulation sent to me on the birth of Ivanka's little boy - so nice!" (More Donald Trump stories.)
