An awesome move by a pizza shop and an extra-special baby girl were among the more uplifting stories of the week:

  • Domino's Staff Saves a Loyal Customer: Kirk Alexander has ordered from Domino's Pizza in Salem, Oregon, "every day, every other day," for at least seven years. So when he went 11 days without placing an order, the staff grew concerned enough to check up on him. It was a life-saving decision.
  • Couple Who Lost 3 Kids in Plane Crash Welcome 'Gift': An Australian couple who described living "in a hell beyond hell" after their three children were killed in a 2014 Malaysia Airlines plane crash welcomed an "amazing gift" this week: a brand-new daughter. And they think the gift came from the late Mo, Evie, and Otis.

  • With Seconds Until Impact, Train Driver Plays the Hero: A train operator had just three seconds to react when he noticed his train was about to crash into a truck on the tracks near Wagrowiec, Poland. He used the time wisely: Security footage shows him sprinting through the train car warning passengers to brace—and they did.
  • Pilot Breaks the Rules for Animals Amid Fire: Suncor Energy pilot Keith Mann has used his plane to help about 6,000 people flee the wildfire devastating Canada's Fort McMurray. But on one recent flight, he tossed out the rulebook and jammed more than 40 pets aboard as well. Best part: Suncor wasn't the only airline to show a soft spot for animals.
  • Swimmer Gives Gold Medal to Price Harry, With a Request: Prince Harry handed Team USA swimmer Elizabeth Marks her fourth gold medal at the Invictus Games for wounded soldiers on Wednesday. Seconds later, she handed it back—with a request to deliver it to a UK hospital. Why? She was once on life-support there.
