Nearly two months after she was robbed at gunpoint, Kim Kardashian was supposed to make her "return to the spotlight" Monday night at a New York City gala, E! reports. Instead, Kardashian skipped the Angel Ball, which raises money for cancer research and was specifically honoring her late father Robert, and rushed to be with husband Kanye West at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after his hospitalization, Us reports. Kris Jenner, who attended the gala, told reporters West had simply been "really tired" from a "grueling tour" when he abruptly canceled tour dates.
A source tells Us the same of the rapper's hospitalization: West has "been suffering from exhaustion and sleep deprivation and went to the hospital ... on his own will and under the consultation of his physician." Another source tells People that West has been "in a very reflective place" since his wife was robbed. "He feels like he’s under spiritual attack, and has been for awhile," the source says. "It’s not just the big things; it’s smaller, quieter things, internal things. You might think that it’s about Kim’s robbery, and while that didn’t help, that’s not what’s going on here. He’s dealing with a lot more subtle issues." Also a factor: His mother died in November 2007, so this time of year is always difficult for him, the source says. TMZ reports that a dispatcher referred to West's 911 call prior to his hospitalization as a "psychiatric emergency." (More Kanye West stories.)
