A popular iPhone case is being recalled for the worst of reasons: chemical burns. MixBin is calling back 275,000 or so glittery iPhone cases made for the iPhone 6, 6S, and 7 and sold through retailers such as Amazon, Henri Bendel, MixBin, Nordstrom Rack, Tory Burch, and Victoria's Secret, reports CNN. The problem? The plastic cases are filled with glitter and an unspecified liquid, and if they crack, the seepage can cause burns or other skin irritations.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has reports from 19 people in the US, and a CPSC spokesperson tells ABC News that one person reported permanent scarring. The cases in question were sold from October 2015 to June of this year, and the CPSC website has all the pertinent model numbers and UPC codes involved. (More recall stories.)
