Energy companies and oil prices took their worst losses in months following reports that OPEC countries plan to produce more oil soon. The drops Friday left major US market indexes mostly lower at the end of an indecisive week. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 58 points, or 0.2%, to 24,753, per the AP. The Nasdaq composite rose 9 points, or 0.1%, to 7,433, and the S&P 500 index fell 6 points, or 0.2%, to 2,721. US crude oil sank 4% after multiple reports indicated that Russia and OPEC could start producing more crude. Friday was a historic day on one front: It marked the first day on the job for Stacey Cunningham, who became the first female president of the New York Stock Exchange. (More stock market stories.)
