A Canadian tennis player is being dubbed the luckiest loser in the game's history after recently gaining entry to his fourth consecutive Grand Slam event without qualifying for a single one of them. Peter Polansky recently tried and failed to clench a spot in the US Open. However, he was selected from a group of 16 equally talented players who'd also lost to fill spots vacated by players who've been injured or otherwise can't play. In the tennis world, this makes Polansky the "lucky loser." While not itself a major feat for a player with a lot of skill and the Fates on his side, the National Post notes Polansky managed to luck into the previous three main Grand Slam events, too. When the US Open begins next week in New York, Polansky, who is ranked 120th in the world, will face No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev, per Slate. (More tennis stories.)
