Three children and a woman were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds Monday at a home in western Michigan, authorities say. Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young says authorities responded Monday to a property near Cedar Springs, a community about 30 miles north of Grand Rapids, the AP reports. She says someone discovered the bodies and called 911. She said authorities are still confirming the victims' identities, though family members identified the children as sisters Alaina, 2; Cassidy, 6; and Kyrie, 8; and the woman as their mother, 28-year-old Aubrianne Moore, WOOD-TV reports.
LaJoye-Young called the scene "a horrific thing to be called to" and said "my heart goes out to the families involved here and the community." She said authorities do not believe a shooter is at large. She said it is too early in the investigation to call the case a murder-suicide, but she confirmed that the possibility is being investigated. WNDU reports that investigators believe at least one of the shootings happened at a different location, but they have so far been unable to locate the second crime scene.
