An unwanted milestone for Texas: This week it became the first US state to register more than 1 million cases of the coronavirus, CNN reports. California is also getting close to six figures, with 977,218 cases as of Tuesday, per its Public Health department. COVID-19 cases are "skyrocketing" across the country, per CNN, which reports that the number of people hospitalized for it in the US has also reached a record high. On Tuesday, that number went over 60,000 for the first time, topping the previous record from April 15. (More coronavirus stories.)
