Week 2 of the NFL made for some interesting headlines, even for those who might not follow the game closely:

  • History: For the first time in NFL history, more than one team overcame a halftime deficit of at least 20 points to win, reports ESPN. The Dolphins trailed by 21 at the half but rallied to beat the Ravens 42-38. The Cardinals were down 20-0 after two quarters but beat the Raiders 29-23 in overtime.
  • Even better: Though it didn't make the history books as above, the day's most surprising and dramatic comeback came in Cleveland, where the Jets trailed 30-17 with 1:55 left. Jets QB Joe Flacco proceeded to throw two TD passes (the latter after a successful onside kick) in 60 seconds for a 31-30 win. The AP notes this ended a streak of 2,229 straight games in which teams leading by at least 13 points in the final two minutes won.

  • Odd stat: Axios notes that New York's Jets, Mets, Giants, and Yankees all won on the same day for the first time since 2009.
