Holidays Is Familiar, Charming

Nothing Like the Holidays is much like many other holiday heart-warmers, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, say critics. The "warm but generic family-stressing-for-the-holidays dramedy" tells the tale of an extended Latin clan getting together for Christmas and stars a who's who of Hispanic talent, Roger Moore writes in the Orlando Sentinel.

The movie's family melodramas hit a note "somewhere between a telenovela and a sitcom's big holiday show," Kirk Honeycutt writes in the Hollywood Reporter. There are no big surprises in store, Moira Macdonald writes in the Seattle Times, but "familiarity is part of the pleasure of holiday movies, and Nothing Like the Holidays gets by not on originality, but on chemistry and warmhearted charm."
