Scientist Steps Down Over Climate Emails
Professor Phil Jones, the director of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.   (Climate Research Unit, University of East Anglia)

The leader of the global warming research organization that had its confidential emails posted online will step down while a review into the hacked emails is conducted. Professor Phil Jones insists that the emails reveal no grand conspiracy to suppress evidence against the climate-change consensus, but said he would relinquish his duties as director until an independent review could prove as much, reports the Guardian.

"What is most important is that CRU continues its world-leading research with as little interruption and diversion as possible," Jones said. "After a good deal of consideration I have decided that the best way to achieve this is by stepping aside from the director's role during the course of the independent review and am grateful to the university for agreeing to this. The review process will have my full support."
