John Boehner has warned several Republican congressmen to stop flirting, dining, partying, and otherwise hanging out with female lobbyists. Boehner told the reps to “knock it off,” sources tell the New York Post, which dutifully tracked down the perpetrators. It caught Lee Terry, for example, chatting up an attractive, giggling lobbyist on Capitol Hill. “Why did you get me so drunk?” he asked, among other personal remarks.
When Terry realized reporters were nearby, he switched the subject to his kids and the staggering cost of college tuition. Asked for comment, his spokesman said, “The congressman has no idea what you’re talking about.” Terry is also one of several reps—along with Duncan Hunter and Bill Shuster—spotted at the frequent DC row house parties thrown by one lobbyist. A Kansas City blog, meanwhile, recently posted photos of Sam Graves having a covert dinner with a lobbyist at a DC restaurant. (More John Boehner stories.)
